Well we had an exciting week! Makenzie is potty trained! She just won't go in the toilet...is that a problem? We don't think so!
So we started potty training last Monday and Maki was so excited! Long story short made very short, she was holding her pee/poop for as much as 4 hours and she was drinking so much! She would always go in the bathroom just not in the toilet...she would sit on it until the very last minute and then jump up and pee! So cute and funny...not at the time I might add, but looking back it makes me laugh! We kept it very upbeat and rewarded her every accomplishment with M&M's and coloring books. So long story made short...on Thursday AM she had to go so bad...she was dancing and running around and we stopped her in the hall and asked her why she didn't want to go on the toilet (we had asked her many times before too...but never got an answer...she is only 2!) she said so cutely "May-May not like toilet!" and so we said we will take a break from using the toilet and try again when she wants to. She grabbed my neck and hugged so tightly she was so excited! :) I have to say that was such a precious moment! She was so grateful to just put it behind her! So to sum it up...whenever she decides to actually go on the toilet she will be a fantastic errand runner with us and not have to go every 5 mins! This whole situation actually helped minimize diaper changes now too! She holds it much longer even with her diaper on! So good did come out of the experience! :)
And the other news is we had a little scare on last Saturday...I actually began having contractions regularly...another long story made short...after about 2 hours or so Gary made me call the Doctor just to check in and he had us come straight in to labor and delivery! Wow...I was not prepared for that! After 4 hours of testing and Gary and Maki playing on Hippo (a kiddy area outside labor and delivery) watching shows and climbing on chairs the test results all came back and I was NOT in preterm labor...anything before 37 weeks is considered preterm and I was only 27 weeks (Now 28)! So the Doctor came in (we were so fortunate my doctor was the one on call!) and went over everything with us...basically I just need to really be in tune with my body and if I get contractions again I will need to lay down and if they continue call and go back in to Labor and Delivery to check things out. We were SO GRATEFUL we were not in Labor...who am I kidding, that I was not in Labor! Yes we are a team, but I will be doing the pushing! lol! :) We would really covet your prayers for our little boy that he can go to at least 37 weeks or so...for his health sake! Makenzie was born at 36 weeks but was VERY HEALTHY! We were very fortunate! She even scored a 9 and 10 on the apgar...many full term babies don't score that high! Yes, we knew from day 1 she was amazing! :)
Sorry for the silence this week on the blog...I have been resting when Makenzie rests and eating up every free moment with Gary...he starts a new project on Monday and things are going to get a bit hectic! We also went down to San Luis Obispo for a couple days! Our favorite restaurant ever is there too! FIRESTONE! Best tri-tip EVER! We had a great trip and Makenzie was a champ on the car ride! We LOVE Barney now! LOL! :) She watched it most of the way home! It was a treat for her (and us) because she doesn't usually watch that much TV (1 or 2 short shows a day). Here are a few pics from the last couple weeks...
